Prophetic Singer
More than just a Singer, a prophetic singer is one who prophesies through their song. The primary worship model used in the house is called the Harp and Bowl Model, which received it’s name from the reference to the 24 elders holding bowls of incense and playing harps to God in Rev 5:8-10. This type of singing is called antiphonal singing, meaning back and forth.
We strive for a more complete unity in our worship by dividing up the singing from a Solo/backup pattern, to one in which the singers compose small short phrases tied together with a chorus, creating a prophetic song.
This position requires that we hear the word of heaven and make His proclamations here on earth. But before you get discouraged and decide this isn’t for you, let us make the statement that all Christians have this ability and privilege. It’s as simple as expounding the Scriptures. The prayer leader simply pray/reads a passage and the singers expound the meaning of the verse through song.
We have found it to be very impacting to the heart and the highest way to internalize Scripture, a type of singing seminary. We offer the most training available for this position because it is considered so new to the Body of Christ. For a demonstration of what this prophetic song sounds like, check out 'Dwayne Roberts CD Apostolic Prayers I or II' found on the Friends of the Bridegroom website on our links page.
2 Chronicles 20:21-22
“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness as they went out before the army and were saying: ‘Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.’ Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.”
